Having finally convinced my husband that a tank is a good idea and spent many hours weighing up what I would really like, what I could afford and what is reasonable for our current circumstances (likely to be moving house in the next year or two), I have finally jumped back in and bought myself a tank.
I've managed to get a great deal on a Juwel Rio 180 with cabinet and all the equipment, and will be collecting it from its current owner in a couple of weeks once I'm back from hols and she's finished transferring stock to her new tank.
The equipment is OK - Eheim Biofilter 200, Tetratec 200W heater, original Juwel lights - but the massive saving I've made by getting 2nd hand gives me some budget to replace some of these.
I really cannot wait to get started, even if it is with giving it a good scrub and looking at a tank of empty water for 6 weeks while it cycles.
Hubby kinds understands how excited I am but not really why...he says he now knows I feel when he starts talking to me about guitars
...so wanted to share with people who would.
Once I get the tank home, I'll start a journal for anyone who's interested in following or has any advice to offer.
