Hi everyone

I have a Fluval Edge, which has been going for 5 months or so now with 6 guppies in it.

I'm about to rescape it from Gravel, to sand, for which I want to cover/grow Riccia so that I can have a nice shrimp group in the tank too to finish it off.

Should I expect any major changes to it's ecosystem when I do this, or any other negative side effects I should watch out/prepare for?

If all your doing is a Riccia carpet you wont have much change really other than your tank stock being happier due to the natural oxygen the Riccia will release.

you might struggle with Riccia due to the footprint of an Edge, although Riccia grows in low light, you might struggle in an Edge. You may prove me wrong though!

Thanks for the advise guys, and I don't really have the light on in the tank at the moment, the fish are generally more active without it, so I let them be...

Well if you want plants your gonna have to get them on for a reasonable time every day.
