i have a spare tank about 10 gallon but with no light i can easily get a filter and heater but can i do a tank with no light??
if i placed it in a warm room either my room in the loft or the conservatory where it will get lots of light can i do it??
also what plants can go with no artificial light and what fish would be ok?
i like galaxy rasbora which i can get easily and shrimp!

Of course, as long as you provide enough nutrients and CO2.
Using real light is harder just because it's harder to control (can't simply turn off the sun ;) ).
Your aiming for 8-9hours a day, so perhaps when that has been met, put a thick, dark blanket over the tank?
