Just had to show off my Tiger lotus flower that I only discovered this morning in one of my tanks. None of my tanks get added fertiliers and are all low tech. So I am pretty chuffed about this little beauty.

The water height is usually a lot higher in this tank but with the cold clear weather we have had a lot of evaporation, also one of my cats thinks the tanks are his own private health spa

Ohhh, now apparently these seed very easily once flowered, so you may end up with a little collection of new bulbs if all goes well.

I would say that I'm jealous, but I have 4 new bulbs of the red tiger lotus, so am hopeful of my own flowers in the near future.

Thanks, this lotus has been growing like crazy and is always sending out bubs (bulblets) in fact I think it has plans for total tank domination

. I did have a small red lotus too but apparently it tasted better than the tiger and the snails ate it to death. When I can get some more red lotus I will definantly try to grow it again.

Best of luck with your lotus.

It's already about to be the cause of a snail cull. I didn't realise quite how many snails there were in that tank until I put it in.

wow baccus this is stunning :)

Thank you.

And Rob, I know all about having to do snail culls, there is nothing more frustrating than having a nice new young plant that the snails just swarm and eat in one night. My nails are so obnoxious that they even eat down to its leaf veins my Java fern

. And I know java fern is supposed to taste horrid but apparently my snails have quite a taste for it.

Slightly better couple of pics of my lotus.

That looks absolutely stunning! I want lotus now :D

Thank you, it is a lovely flower just a shame that they don't last that long only a couple of days.

That is very beautiful! I wish I had a tank so I could have some of these to see everyday. We have some at a park nearby on the water. They are so lovely to see, especially when you're feeling down.
