No Ammonia But High Nitrites?

i just stocked my 20 gallon and was doing my tests when i realized my nitrites were through the roof. ammonia is fine, havent, and dont have time to check for nitrates.

is this a mini cycle or what?? my filter is a penguin 150 and i switched the mechanical filter with the carbon inside AND the bio material from a filter on my 36.

the nitrites are scaring me...its not like i cant do a million water changes to eventualy fix it. im not worried but what is the problem?



EDIT: i just did a 40% water change and the reading is .25

woo hoo thats a lot better than before! it was 5.0

im guessing water changes over the next few days will settle this correct?

Yeah water changes will fix it. Also adding mature media from another tank will work as well.
