Something I've noticed the past month or so with my fish, I hardly ever see them... My tank is healthy and everything and I have 2 Firemouths, 1 severum, 8 Tetras, 1 Syno Eur. and I have to say this tank is not very active at all. Even my tetras all they do is hide behind my fake plants or they just float. Regardless about 95% of the time I hardly ever see any of them if I do it's usually the tetras. Looking at a 55 gallon tank of water with fake plants isn't realy what I had in mind. I don't mind them relaxing but they hardly ever do anything. Perhaps it's too much of a peaceful tank lol.. Sorry about that's it's just a little annoying that I never get to really seem them swim. :( Perhaps they've gotten too friendly with each other. lol

Maybe it's time for a school of barbs or danios...

I second that. Nothing gets a tank moving like a big mob of tiger barbs or zebra danios... :D If you go for danios, don't get the longfinned variety. They're fast compared to most fish, but snails compared to the regular finned ones.

With most barbs (tigers are the best :p) try to get at least 5 but they look FANTASTIC in a school of 10 or more.

With danios, again, 5 will be okay, but they also like safety in numbers. And a school of 10 or more of them looks very pretty.

Well perhaps I'll get 10-12 danios my other fish are really mid-bottom dwellers and I've read danios tend to stick to the top of the tank.

maybe some of the bigger danios, as the sevs will eat them as they get to be full size.

A sev can eat a 2.5" fish? Most likely by the time my sev gets that size the danios will be dead from old age.. They surely don't live as long. Well, either way I have to take a look at my LFS and see what they have, I really can't remember.. heh

well danios can live for 7 years, and I bet that the sev will be pretty big by that time and eat the fish. New World cichlids are very well associated with eating those kind of fish.

a site said 5-7, but you should ask paul just to be sure.
