oh no! i thought my tank was cycled!!!!!!! it had no ammonia or nitrites 4 2 weeks. in total it has been set up for 2 months and now the nitrites r on the rise!!!!!! this is really bad bcause i have 2 otos, fry and mollies in that tank! what is the best thing i can do 4 them? i have my other 10 gal. (no ammonia or nitrites yet!) it's just gonna start cycling  i was thinking i could move them in there and then when the nitrites go down back into the other. but if the ammonia in the un cycled 1 starts going up then i'm stuck.......ugh!!!! o man this is confusing! i think i should get the otos out and do a water change to start. any advice? the nitrites aren't high yet should i get that cycle stuff to help this thing along?

Probably many of those bacteria died when they didn't get "food" to eat. Anyway.. How did you do "cycling" in the first place?

If you hve nitrites in tank where you keep fishes, then you need to get rid of nitrites. So changing water is good way. Bacteria has still food to growing - fishes produce ammonia all the time...

in the first place i cycled with fish some guppies and platies and they all lived. i was stupid and just tossed some fish in a tank then realised what i had done but it came out ok. (not something i recomend) and at the start i was also disuaded from getting test kits from the lfs and about a month or so later i got tests anyway and the nitrites and ammonia were 0 that stayed like that for 2 weeks or so. and 2 days ago my mollies started acting wierd so i tested and got 0 ammonia and .3 nitrites!
whoa my fishy history. i think everything is gonna b ok tho
