Nitrite Test On Fishless Cycle

hi guys,
mine has been going purple straight away when doing a nitrite test, then after 5 minutes going very light blue, that meant it was off the scale.. .. the other day it didn't but went deep purple after 5 minutes, so it looked like it was coming back onto the scale.. 2 days later after 12 hours after adding amonia i'm amonia and nitrite free! so looks pretty good..

I am in the UK, yes.

I guess I'll just keep topping up the ammonia twice a day, and hope the nitrites eventually start to fall!
