If you have dead fish will they contribute to nitrite spikes?

Oh thanks a lot. I had two clown loaches and after the first day they were missing. And we had a ammonia spike and now a nitrite spike. Thanks a lot I appreciate it. Do you know where clown loaches hide or where they could be hiding? I know you dont know my tank but could they be in the gravel, or something

Clowns can be pretty shy at first; when they're settled they can be on view a lot, but it may take a while. So they might be hiding away somewhere, under a piece of bogwood, in a cave, etc, but they don't bury themselves in the gravel IME. I don't know how long they've been missing for, but if you haven't seen them at all and you've had ammonia/nitrite spikes, I fear the worst :( but let's hope for the best!

It has been a couple of weeks. But what was so strange was that one was missing after a night. There is a small opening near my filter and a very small opening near my heater, well I saw one clown loach (I bought 2) right before I dug through the tank then the other is missing. I looked through the tank but I think what happened is that it is ina decoration. I will have to look.
