Doesn't look too complex, but from the looks of things you don't get s single night off!
Going to try a Kent Grow / Kent Fe / Kent Nitro+ combination out and see how that gets on, for a few weeks.
I don't get a single night off as it is with 2 rabbits and a boyfriend to look after!
I use kent grow and kent fe, as recommended by Jimbooo (I had no iron whatsoever before). And my nitrates and phosphates were better before I started.
Seriously though, how much of your time do you think you spend doing these dry ferts, Zig? I want a good planted tank, but I'm not sure I'm good enough to stick to a strict regime.

Once you get the chemicals and have them mixed up into a solution it makes things a lot easier, its just like adding any liquid fertiliser, only takes a minute or so each day.
In the beginning you will do lots of tests probably for the first few weeks just to double check you are on the right track, and not under or overdoing it, after several weeks of this method i now only test occeasionally maybe 2-3 times a week and more times than not i probably knew the tank was ok anyway, but tested just in case, i would imagine in another month or so i will probably do very little testing unless i make dramatic changes to the tank and change its balance.
So once you have the learning curve under your belt, its alot easier, only a minute or so each day, but you must do 50% water changes each week to reset the tank, and i suppose thats the only real chore especially if you have a bigger tank.
But dont forget that a few of us a useing this method now and that will make it a lot easier for you in the beginning as somebody will be able to guide you if you get stuck.
The other advantage of the method is that if you encounter problems useing EI alls you have to do is post your test results and almost immeaditaly just by looking at them others sould be able to point you in the right direction.
But it isnt that difficult, once you have your fertiliseing regime setup, you just follow that, testing occeasionally, and myself and others will be able to work that out for you, or show you how to work it out yourself.
A good example of how good the method is, is your current problem of low nitrates, with EI you could solve the problem within a couple of days by adding KNO3 Potassium nitrate, the EI method would allow you to just top up your nitrates every couple of days, and by doing this you would be able to keep your nitrate level in the 10ppm range, its what we all do to keep our nitrates at the correct levels, and its really that simple, just like adding any liquid fertiliser, but the beauty is that you can control it.
Anyway enough lectureing, but it does work but i suppose a little bit harder in the beginning, but thats what the forum is for if you get stuck.
