As you can see i have done x3 threads, Juwel Nitrate Sponges, Polyfilter's and Nitrazorb.

I have x3 tanks (all Rio 300's - 300 litre, 67 UK Gallons)

My tap water comes out varying between 10-25 mg/l although i am sure it is higher occasionally.

One of tanks is so lush with plants it doesn't seem to matter how many fish are in there or when i do a water change, the level of Nitrate is always about 5-10 mg/l

The other two tanks are (a) Malawi and (B) American Cichlid (Convicts, Parrots, Kribensis and also Bristlenose)

These two tanks are quite heavily stocked (but under PFK max levels) and this to be honest is more for my pleasure than any particular needs of the fish.

Therefore i thought, perhaps if i am stocking heavy for my pleasure i should think about spending some money on NitrAte removal.

But i am not so sure really as

1. I am more than happy and willing to do up to 30-35% water changes every 4-5 days

2. The levels dint appear to ever rise above 60-80 mg/l and this would only be if i didn't do a water change for 10-14 days.

3. Based on a lot of forum reading and internet research it might not even really be necessary to get the Nitrates lower than 40-50 mg/l which i can certainly achieve with a good water change routine.

Shall i just save my money and concentrate on water changes?

But i do like the general idea of a polyfilter, anyone got a guess as to how much it would cost to have polyfilters running in both my 300 litre tanks?
