Following on from my prev posts I am still concerned about my tank and just wanted reassurance I am doing the right thing..

Backgrnd info

I have a 200 litre tank and am cycling with fish.

I have a silver shark
6 barbs
1 platy
2 mollies

I did a water change yest, and day before approx 20% with dechlor water.

I have tested my tap water and there is no amm or nitrite.

I am using liquid test.

My nitrate is around 0.5 and ammonia under .25 and seems to be lowering.

I have added salt to tank today on recommendation, along with some API stress coat and API stress-zyme.

I have purchased and air stone and its all up and running.

No sign of distress to fish at the moment.

LFS recommend no water change till tomorrow to see if the above mentioned actions take any effect, do you agree ?

Thanks again to anyone who has time to reply.

As I have said before, pls could you explain things easily for this worried little novice :good:

Thanks again

If ammonia or nitrite raise above 0.25, you will need to waterchange to avoid fish suffering. Salt reduces the toxidity of nitrite, but is by no means a cure  Salt on a long-term basis may be harmful to fish, so only use it while you are cycling

Stress-zyme is useless, don't waste your hard earned cash on it again. If you still want to use it, add the whole bottle in one go :good: Stress coat can be used at waterchange time, but not as a routien addition to the tank. It contains Alovera, that is an irritant to some fish, thus it is one of the few water conditioners that can be overdosed  API's normal tap water conditioner is the product I use. You cannot overdose this alternative, and it is far more ecconomical, with the same amount of product treating more water than stress coat.

All the best

have a read of the link in my sig 'whats cycling' which explains the whole process, I'd like to think it's written in easy terms for a novice to understand.
