Hi

I have a 50L tank which contains 3 Donias (small ones) my water readings have been good but today the Nitrate has gone from 0 to almost 20ppm - I was hoping to add a couple more fish today.

Is there a particular reason this might have happened? and what should I do about it?

The amonia and nitrite readings are still at 0

thanks for your help

Thats wicked mate dw :) NitrAte isnt a problem unless its seriously over 100ppm, its somthing you cant avoid happening and its why even mature aquariums need to do weekly/bi-weekly water changes :) you can add more fish now.

:) thanks for that

I now have in my tank:

2 Donias
5 cardinal tetra
2 coral roach

One of the Donia seems very stressed about it - he is racing around all over the place, is this a normal reaction to adding more fish?

amonia and nitrite still at 0

Donias? if you mean danios then I wouldnt worry too much :) there natually very active as it is so just after a move will be normal. If you dont then im sorry im not familiar with that species.
