Nitrate & Nitrite Problems

I have a 20 litre tank it has been up and running roughly 6 weeks with 12 neons 2 guppies and 2 angels i have a 60 litre tank currently being cycled so i can move some of the fish over as my 20 litre tank is over stocked. Up till Monday my stats read nitrate 0, nitrite 0, totall hardness 6.0,total alkalinity 5.5, ph 7.2. I have had a sudden spike in my nitrate & nitrite levels My stats now read in the 20 litre are as followed nitrate 20, nitrite 3.0, total hardness 6.0, total alkalinity 5.5, ph 7.2. and i cant seem 2 get them down. I had good readings for a while, I havent added any thing or taken any thing out. I am doing 25 % water changes daily but it doesnt seem 2 be working. My fish seem ok but im still worried the levels are not correct. PLEASE HELP ME I DONT WANT ANY OF OUR FISH 2 DIE.

You stocked too quickly. You need to add more water. Don't know if I am too late. This is in the disease treatment journals. You must place it in the disease forum.
