i have bothing wrong w/ petco but something horrible happened. there was a betta who i will call Nippy,he was in a tank w/ Austrialian rainbows;they were eating him alive. so i went to this guy and said in finnish "sir there is a betta being eatin alive in this tank" i pointed to it and the idiot said "Oh! he is already dead" he gave a sassy sounding pout and helped someone else. i went over to get my friend who is a daughter of a fish breder that worked there; she took poor nippy out and put him in an almost empty tank w/ a pelco ,Nippy slightly calmed down so i went to look at the paradise gouramis. i went back to see how Nippy was, He was dead .Nicole(another nice petco worker) the fish girl and i said bye to this fish she was going to remove nippy when we left (i saw the fish friend go over w/ a net and bag so she probably did. I dont have a problem w/ petco since there other bettas were in cups and were happy as can be (except there was another one in a tank and he was happy as can be too and i called him spunkie) Rest In Peace Nippy you were cared well in your final minutes.

Why on earth do I keep hearing stories about bettas in tanks with non compatible fish? I mean how do you miss bright colored fish being pecked to death!? Good grief. Im glad to know he was cared for in his last minutes like you said.

yeah i know ..what is an Austrialian rainbow?...i think we did the right thing by putting him w/ a pelco ..arent pelcos good w/ bettas?

I think I remeber reading somewhere they were ok as long as the tank was not to small. To be honest I cant remember.

I am really not sure on the rainbows. Apparently they are nippy annoying fish hee hee.

sorry for double posting but i was reserching and i learned rainbows cannot be w/ bettas so.should i complain about this "matt" idiot at petco?

I would because it was really wrong of him to put them together if he obviously didn't know about the fish enough to know that they weren't compatible and when you told him the other fish were killing him, he did nothing in return.

I would absolutely call a manager and tell him what happened, inform him that bettas are not compatible with that species, and point out that the employee did not even attempt to help the injured fish out. Make it clear that you are upset and may stop shopping there. Money talks. Loudly.
