My 2 pregnant female mollies in my 125-gallon tank have begun nipping at each other's fins and the larger of the two had actually ripped a chunk of the fin out of the smaller's tail. I have the smaller separated in the hospital tank and I'm treating with melafix to prevent infection. I'm planning on rearranging the tank before returning the smaller to the tank. Any other suggestions to mellow out this aggression?

Well, what size tank is it? It could be they just feel crammed, and it's too small of a tank. Otherwise, you can try feeding a bit more, to make sure they are each getting enough food. Rearranging the tank is always good, to break up their territories. :)

I'm only posting because I think it is odd that they would be so aggressive with each other in such a large tank.

Shoot, I'm stupid. Moving does that to you. Sorry.

That's really odd then. They have plenty of room, that's for sure. Are there any other fish in there that may be preventing them from getting food? What are their tankmates?

They're the biggest pigs in the tank. I feed them twice a day and they're the first ones to notice the food. I keep them with gouramis, clown loaches, tetras, cories, plecos and platies. The water is a bit acidic for them (7.2) but they're rather hardy and I haven't had any problems as of yet. I was thinking it may just be the fish or the fact that they're pregnant and may be are a bit defensive.
