Hi Folks,

My Dad's tank has been set up since end Oct and overall things are looking pretty good. In his/my ignorance and I think lack of intel' from my LFS we've managed to get 3 male guppys and one female. One of the male guppys is constantly harrassing two of my platty's by appearing to nip at their pectoral fins (never their tails).
Is this normal as if not I'd rather not lose two healthy fish for the sake of one 'bully'?

The tank has a mix of live and plastic plants but we've noticed that all the real plants are starting to get a faint discoloration (black) to the edges of the leaves and the plastic plants are also showing a slightly dark discoloration on the leaves but only towards the top of the plant......any ideas?

All my water (incl ammonia) are reading OK and I'm doing a 20% water change every week.
Thanks,
Fred

Hi,
my Dad's tank is 64l.

Water readings:
Ammonia: 0.1.
CL: 0.
PH: 7.4.
KH: 10 deg d.
GH: 16 deg d.
NO2: 1.
NO3: 50.

Inhabitants:
1 Balloon Molly.
3 Zebra Danios.
4 Guppys.
1 Algae Eater.
2 harlequins.
2 Tetras.
3 Plattys.
3 Mollys.

It has one daylight bulb and 1 night (blue) bulb - both are on during the daytime.
It used to be in direct sunlight until he had a serious algae bloom and since then he keeps it shaded pretty much all of the time.
Thanks,
Fred.

you have a nitrite reading which is bad! how long has it been setup?

and what are the wattage's of the tubes?

and how thick are they in diameter?

and inch? or less?

stop feeding and start doing water changes for starters, as u have both ammonia and nitrite which are lethal to fish

what is ur nitrate reading out of the tap??

Did a 25% water change the day before yesterday. Yesterdays readings as follows:

CL2: 0.4.
PH: 7.6.
KH 15 deg d.
GH: 16 deg d.
NO2: 0
No3: 40.
Amm: 0.05.

Nitrate reading is not showing anything from tap water.
