I added a pair of Nigerian Red Kribensis to my 5x2 community tank a week ago and within an hour or two the male had started chasing the female around and was also chasing the other fish, though to a lesser extent. Over the week the male and female have at times looked like they are pairing up (digging pits under plants together & periods of being together without fighting), but the male still does chase the female from time to time. But, the aggression towards the other fish has really intensified. The male is definitely the most aggressive, but the female has started having a go at the others too.

I really don't want to take these fish back to my LFS as they are absolutely amazing looking...really vivid colours. But, if the aggression doesn't die down I'll have to. I've got a pair of Kribs (a slightly larger variety) in my other community tank and my son has a pair in his, too and both those pairs are absolutely fine with the other inhabitants. Are these Nigerian Reds known to be more aggressive, or have I just been unlucky?
