hey guys i have a 40 gallon african setup, what's a good base i can have ontop of my existing gravel Sand (crush coral)? Also will this reduce them from digging up? B)

Don't waste your time putting sand on top of the gravel, it will just end up on the bottom anyway.

The idea should be to encourage digging, not stop it - digging is a natural instinct -don't we want them to display as much natural behavior as possible in the tanks? I'd just go with sand.

yes i see your point.If i just mix the gravel and sand togetter will that still keep ph stable?? i don't want to go threw the trouble of moving all the gravel.
