..... so , i have had my 4 neons in for a week and i want more !!! , really do like the look of the siamese fighters but only having a 40 litre tank am i setting my sights to high , to be honest i am starting to regret getting such a small tank but i am stuck with it for now , if i went for the siamese and having 4 neons how many more fish would i be able to accomodate ? ....

Small tanks (<60l) can easily go toxic, plus Bettas can sometimes not take kindly to Neon Tetra as tankmates. Is this tank "cycled" or have you added Neon Tetra to an immature tank?

If it is cycled and you have been getting daily "double zeros" so far and this continues for another week, I would buy another four Neon Tetras and hold fire for a few months. Perhaps when the tank is at least six months cycled, you might be able to safely add a small shrimp colony.
