Hi
I'm just about to start what will hopefully be a nicely planted tropical tank (and with plenty of fish), a juwel trigon 190.
I had to give my last tropical tank to my mum when I moved house 18m ago, and unfortunately her husband has now taken an interest so I can't have that back!
I also have a fish only marine tank which has been running for a couple of years.
Since I don't really have the dedication to keep corals (too much monitoring water parameters and fiddling around for me - I tend to prefer the feed and forget method and the occasional water change), the tank is somewhat barren - rocks, water, and the occasional fish - and I have recently been missing the gentle swaying of plants and the flash of shoals of tetras/danios etc.
Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't get rid of the marine tank for anything, as I've found the fish have a huge amount of personality and individuality (especially Porky - my young porcupinefish).
I'm trying to take a more structured/scientific approach to my new tank, as although my previous tropical tank seemed to thrive on a mixture of ignorance, neglect and horrendous overstocking, I suspect I may not be as lucky this time.
Sorry to ramble on so much, I'm sure I'll have a lot of questions in the next few days/weeks/months, so thank you in advance to whoever answers them.
