Hello to everyone.

I am new to the hobby of keeping tropical fish and will need help along the way! Look forward to exchanging messages with as many of you as possible and would like to thank you all now for any help given which will be gratefully received. :D

Hi. Welcome to the forum.Hope you will have fun while learning all about fish keeping. What fish do you have?

Hi specks. Thanks 4 your message. I have got 5 black neons, 5 glowlight neons, 2 male guppys, 4 female guppys & 3 plecys. Have had tank now for nearly 4 weeks (180 Litre) and water is still cloudy. I am assuming that this is because it is cycling (?). Had the neons first after a week or so of setting up the tank and have added the guppys and plecys this weekend just gone. They all seem very happy but I am slightly concerned about the cloudiness of the water. have done water test and all results are ok. Do you have tropical or marine fish? :)

Tropical. Have got 180ltr myself. Bought 2nd lot of fish at the weekend. Have now got 5 loepard danios, 5 minnows & 5 silver tip tetras. Want to get corys & khuli loaches next. My son is letting me have a few of his swordtail fry (7 weeks old). Have heard that the cloudiness could be a bacterial bloom as far as I know it should soon clear. Good luck with the tank.

from what i've heard/experienced the cloudiness is new tank syndrome and is harmless to fish, it will eventually clear as i'm pretty new too, about 3-4 months and mine cleared NATURALLY after about 6-8 weeks.
i've read about people puttin all sorts of chemicals in the tank and killing all their fish so try to leave it! i myself added nutrafin clear and i personally think that this only prolonged the cloudiness as it kept re-appearing
good choice on joining the forum as i've had hundreds of pounds worth of info and help that you'll not get from buying a couple of books!
above all good luck and enjoy!

Hi there. Thanks for your reply and advice. I lost one of my black neons today  and when I looked him over he appeared to have bulging eyes but no sign of any white spots on his body. Have done a water test and that came out fine and I hve also done a water change. Hopefully this will help. All the other fish appear to be ok :)

Hi Specks. Have lost a neon today  have done water test and everything is ok and have also done a partial water change. Hopefully this will help.
think it might make sense to wait a while before adding any more fish.
don't want to have any more fatalities or stress existing fish. Would eventually like to have siamese fighting fish as i think they are really pretty :D

that maybe wise to wait i mean. im new to tis game to tho. but aprrentl neons can be quite frigial, so you maye well haev done nothing wrong
