Newbie To The Site Saying Hi!

Hey everyone,

My name is matt, well the user name is a bit of a give away lol.

Ive kept fish on and off over the years from a young age but since finally moving into my own place i have really enjoyed building my own tank how i like it and not having outside input from the folks!.

I found this site as i was looking for some advice for my black ghost knife fish, but ill post that in the right section.

Anyways nice to meet you all and ill be around just taking in all the knowledge that people offer on here

1x golden nugget
9x cardinal tetras
7x lime green tetras
2x golden rams
6x pearl danio's
1x bgk who is as good as gold!
4x cory julies

Filters are

1x fluval U3
1x Aqua one 750 external pump

And soon I'll be upgrading my tank to a Rio 240 subject to which way my joists run ad I'm in a new build flat

Wow , you have fishy heaven in your tank, Id love to have Leopard Frog Pleco L134 and Royal Panaques but the price is unjustifiable.

Hey thanks Carl and flagtail,

I did have two golden nuggets when they were about 2"s long but one evening while I was watching t.v I noticed both them really going at it, which was strange as they had both been in the same tank alone at my fish suppliers.

Shame that I had to separate them but the other one has gone to a good home which is a bonus, plus I get to see how he is doing on a regular basis!.

I mainly built this tank around the plecs I wanted and I have to give a massive thumbs up to Deep Blue aquatics in Hemel hempsted as they have managed to get hold of these lovely fish

I did take a short video last night of my tank and I'll post that up later when I'm home from work.

The stock level has remained the same now for about 9 weeks with the only losses being 2x cardinals and 1x male neon swordtail. This was mainly down to me moving house.

Pretty much my weekly routine is a 20L water change and 15ml addition of API stress zyme to remove the chlorine and now things are stable I test the water mid week after the water change.

But the best addition that I've made over the last week was changing my lighting from a sun-glo to a flora-glo, the fish colours are so much more noticeable, oh and adding a U3 internal filter. The filter is a really good piece of kit as the Venturi has allowed me to bin the stupidly loud air pump! Plus it has created more flow and circulation than my old internal so it's win win all round.

Carl, just keep shopping around dude. Maidenheads in St Albans have some royals in at the mo, they are the broken line variety though @£28 each. Also they have some phantom blue's in stock and I fell in love with these!, but at £46 each the other half went crackers and said no lol!....so guess I'll have to wait a while
