Hi, just saying hello and introducing myself as I'm new to the Forum! :)
Already been reading various topics and posts - and I have to say I'm most impressed with jimboo's planting experiences, I'm looking to get my huge tank planted up and looking something like his hopefully!

I've been keeping tropical fish for around 8 years. I started with one small tank and ended up with two large set ups! One 4'x1.5'x1.5' with various tropical’s and one 5'x2'x2' Malawi Cichlid set up. I eventually had to scale down to just one tank last year due to the cost and time involved, so kept the largest tank running in my living room, but moved the tropical’s into it and sold the Malawi's (which I miss, and thinking of setting the smaller tank up again, as I've yet to sell the actual tank, it's just sitting in my bedroom.)

Here's a pic of my current tank taken early last year when I first set it up (well swapped it over):

Unfortunately I had a nasty disease break out about 6 months ago and lost all but one of my Cardinals, 6 Dwarf Neon Rainbows, two clown loaches and a my Gold Nugget - which I'd had for nearly 4 years  I can only guess the disease came in with the Dwarf Neon Rainbows, as they were the last occupants to be added, and water conditions were ok. I left the tank to recuperate, and also with regular water changes reduced the amount of tannin from the two large pieces of bog wood in there.

I bought 10 new Phantom tetras last week, the first new fish added since the disease, and they seem to be doing well so far. So now I have around 25 Phantom Tetras (mixed Red & Black), 2 Clowns, 4 Botias, 1 Ruby Finned Shark, 10 L numbers and an albino bristlenose. I'm hoping to get a new shoal of Cardinals over the next few months, and increase the plants. I've added a Co2 canister in anticipation of trying out a Riccia carpet at the front of my tank. The Vallis has been going from strength to strength, and the anubias seem ok at the moment too. :D

So hopefully I can let you all know how I get on, and get some help and advice on the way!

Hi Natalie, welcome to the forum. hey that is an awsome looking tank, i really like the bogwood it looks so natural. I am sure you will enjoy it here and look forward to your posts

Hello and Welcome!! Very nice tank! Well it sounds like you've already got some experience in your hands. I'm sure you'll enjoy it here!

Hi everyone! Thanks!

Paul-Discus - thanks, that’s exactly the look I was going for, natural  I got the two pieces of Bogwood from a local fish shop, which seems to have everything, in a messy hap-hazard way, has lots of second hand tanks and parts. It's a great place to look for odd things sometimes! And they are the only local place I know to do such huge pieces of wood. I didn't want to buy lots of small bits; it would've taken me ages to fill that tank! However the tannin is taking a long time to go, I couldn't really pre-soak the wood for long as the bath is the only place it would fit

I've taken a few new pics of the tank and will post them up when I get the chance.

As much experience as I've had with my various tanks and fish, I realise the less I know over time! There's always something new to learn or experience
