Newbie South Of Boston

Hey Y'all!! I'm a newbie from MA. I Started a 20 gallon FW tank almost 6 months ago. I have had lots of issues. two what i think were ich outbreaks. I have killed 10 fish. I'm blaming bad advice from commercial pet stores.
 
I'm hoping I can get some good advice from this forum as i want to setup a 72 gallon bowfront a friend gave me.
