Newbie says hi

Just a quick note to say hi. I've been looking at the forum for a while now and finally decided I had a few worthy questions to post.

A quick history: excluding a few college years spent outside the hobby, I've been fishkeeping since elementary school with a tad bit of breeding. I'm slowly getting back into things and am currently constructing a river tank.

Thanks to all for the warm welcomes.

The river tank is based on the streams that I grew up playing in around northeast Iowa. It will have a sand/gravel base and simulate a stepped stream bed. The left side of the tank will have a raised bottom to provide faster water flow and the transition to the deeper portion will be faced with stone to make it appear as if the bedrock simply drops off.

I should have the shallow portion and rock face in place within a week or two. I'll post a couple pics when things start coming together for those that are interested.

Oh, regarding the fish, I'm going to stock it initially with White Clouds but I may move to Darters native to the area at some point in the future.
