Hi to all

Need a bit of help i have brought some Guppies put them in the tank today a "Aqua 40" (dont know if that helps)

Never owned fish before brought them for my sons birthday!!

Anyway went out and came back and one had died the others all at the top of the water so i borrowed a pump from a friend but they all still at the top!!

Any ideas if they are ok or ineed of something.

All help appreciated

Thanks
Toddy

do you have a filter and heater in the tank, you need to read up about cycling, how many guppies did you buy?

Has the tank got a filter, heater and pump head? How long have you had it? Have you read the forums on cycling because if the tank is new, toxins build up in the water, although it sounds too early for this to happen. Did you add dechlorinater to the water? Chlorine, which is naturally in tap water can kill fish. You will also need to get some testing kits for ammonia and nitrites. Keep us informed and we may be able to help.

Thanks for your response i went back to shop today and they done the test and it is contaminated but the guy was nice as he was the one who served me yesterday and appologised as he didnt advise me on what to do and gave me a credit note as in the 3 died. He told me probably to many fish at once could have caused them to die but the last 3 look fit and healthy today so im keeping an eye on them

I do have the pump heater etc so fingers crossed its ok for now.

Thanks again for those who responded.
