Hi Guys

I have had my current fish tank for about 10 months now and am going to be upgrading to a 250L tank which was my joint birthday/xmas pressie! I have been running my new powerful external filter in the old tank for 2 months now so its seeded ready for transferring to the new tank when set up.

I have always just had gravel in the old tank with plants in those little terracotta 'flower pots' but would like to have a properly planted tank for the new one. I dont have a clue how to go about this! - do I need soil under the gravel? Please advise how to set this up, suitable plants and any advise as to their care would be appreciated, as apart from one plant they never seemed to last long in the old tank despite feeding them with plant food!
