Hi all
I've got 2 questions I'm hoping someone can help with.
My tank has slowly depleted down to two very hardy Danios. The tank is
about 32 litres and has an undergravel filter and a couple of broad
leaf plats (not sure what they are). Is there any other breeds I can
mix with the Danios?

We're looking at the getting another tank (30 to 50 litre) so I can
have some Cardinal or Neon Tetras (I love their colours) Which are the
hardiest and what sort of plants should I get to make them happy? I
was thinking an external filter for this tank as I havwe a bit of
trouble with algae buildup in the other tank.

Thanks in advance

Hello, and welcome to the forums.

What are you ammonia/nitrite/nitrate levels? Also, if you haven't already, read: Avoiding and Treating New Tank Syndrome along with the other stickies on this forum.

Undergravel filters aren't the best thing for plants. Also, algae is more caused by lighting an nutrient control than filtration (ok, well it's all interrelated, but using a different type of filter is not the best step towards algae prevention). Though external power filters are the way to go IMO for small simple tanks.

What types of plants you get depend on your lighting/CO2/fertilizer setup.

You have lots of reading to do if you don't want to end up wasting money and killing things -_-

Really 32 is a bit small for danios, they like to dash about, but it wont kill them.

Firstly when and how do you perform water changes ?
Second, Do you monitor your water stats ?
Third, How long is your light on ?
Fourth, How often and what do you feed them ?

If you can answer some of the questions we can help. Fish keeping is not as easy as people think, as you are finding out. But try to answer
