After finding out yesterday I had no female guppies in my tank, I felt the need to visit the pet shop !! 10 yr old son has now convinced me to buy the few remaining females they had and again i am left wondering I am pretty sure they are all pregnant, and have a spare tank up and running for any fry , any help to tell me how far gone they are would again be greatly appreciated ... link below... The woman in pet store had no idea how far gone or if indeed they are pregnant !!!!

Thanks in advance
for any replies

Some of them at least are pregnant - and if you have males they all will be soon. The large one with the blue tail is the most pregnant, 1-2 weeks before she drops.
Good luck with the fry!

Hope you have better luck with your fish from a pet shop than I did. When I first started some while back, I bought some guppies and danios from my lfs and the guppies died within weeks. I bought some more and the same thing happened. I've since found out that a lot of fish from shops are genetically weak and are therefore not very resistant to various diseases.

If (or when)the fishkeeping bug really bites you and you want to buy more, I would suggest buying from private breeders. (They would probably be cheaper as well!)Some sell on eBay and others can be contacted through sites like this one....

They are all seeming to be fine ... the local shop I go to has a very good reputation, has been there for generations ... Thankyou for the advise tho ... I have always been fearfull of having the fish transported by post, It must work though because lots of people do it ....

Maybe you're lucky to have a good local shop.

I have received many batches of fish by post and have sent out many as well and have yet to get any DOAs. Providing they are well packaged with breathable bags, heat packs (where necessary)etc you should have no problems at all....

I have taken some new pics tonight of these 2 fish who I think are not too far off having their babies, I have tried to compare them to earlier photos but I am still struggling to identify how far off they are .... they have both changed in their behaviour tonight, hiding behind the filter and heater ,,,, wouldnt even come out for food for a few mins !!!! ... I lost one at the beginning of the week and am desperate that these two are ok so any further advise would be lovely I dont want to put them in the trap too soon and stress them .... TQ Becks.
