Hi there. I'm a newbie to tropical fish : ) it's very exciting and i've read up heaps of info online, but there's a lot of contracting things…

I've bought a Aqua Once 620T tank second hand (120L Tall) and it's been running for 2 months. All's good with it (tested water numerous times and fish seem to be doing well) Over the past month i have been slowly building my fishie family!

There have been many specials for them (neons/danios), so i've got them as i thought i may have lost a couple in transit or just bad luck. They are all baby's at the moment, but i know there will be too many fish in the tank as they grow up.

I currently have: 11 Neon Tetra, 5 Zebra Danios, 1 Bristlenose Pleco, 3 Peppered Corydoras and 3 Swordtails (1M/2F).

I know these all go well together. i don't intend to breed - so the fish will be eaten, or if they survive i will look at separating them and selling them/give away.

I did want to have a main feature fish, which i was thinking of a dwarf gourami - but didn't know if i should just stick to one or if i needed to by a pair.

Can anyone please offer advise what i should cut my fish back to to have the max for my tank… keeping in mind i would love to have a dwarf gourami (but i'm ok if i don't and i will look at getting down the track)

Many thanks!! :D

Hi i would think you have enough room for a dwarf gourami or 2.
also i would add another zebra danio mine weren't happy until there were 6+
Tank looks really good i'm guessing they are fake plants.

inch per gallon is the rule of thumb if you have very good filtration then 2 inches per gallon is acceptable.

So what is your filter?

Hi Lloyd, thx :) good news. Yes, plants are fake but bought ones that looked realistic. I plan to get some live plant that floats at the top sometimes for a fishie treat. I've got a bubble curtain in the back too. they seem to enjoy their environment and i'm really happy with how it came together!

Regarding the filter... i'm not sure the technical terms (i'd tried googling it as the manuals quite crap) but it's an internal filter with the carbon sponge and noodles (comes up a tube from the back corners/filters onto the sponge at the top, then trickles back out the other corner) - your thoughts given this?

Yes, i've read that they do (3 being the min for their school), but i'm worried that i have too many fish in my tank already?
