Newb To Fish

HI all. Im just starting out with this hobby as a fish owner. I really dont have any fish as of yet lol but i do have a fish tank and a plan )) im going to be looking forward to getting help from all of you as time goes bye. I have only a 40 gallon tank i bought at petco when they had there 1 dollar a gallon sale. The plan i have is to build a stand and hood and sump to fit my 40 gallon tank )). OH im kinda a good wood worker so i guess thats always good to have around the DIY forums
