So I've been jonesin to get a fish tank for a while (i havent had one since high school) and have been reading up online and stoping by Pet stores randomly. I just jumped on a great deal for a 29 gallon tank (30" x 18" x 12"). The setup came with a full hood, 16W florescent, bio wheel filter, and some used gravel.

Im ready for the weekend and looking to make some progress setting up the tank. I was hoping you guys could review my short shopping list and plan and provide any tips / corections.

Thanks in advance.
-Kevin

The List:
Substrate:
- Play Sand
- Laterite
- Gravel (Already have bacteria gravel form used tank)

Lighting:
- Need Help, Looking for any recomendations for a 50watt+ setup that has a lunar or moonlight. Any good lights that bring out teh greens in plants and the orange and blues in fish?

Misc:
- Submersible Heater (to go in the filter)
- Regular low watt heater to go in tank and serve as a backup
- testing kits, maintenance equip etc...
- Nutra Fin CO2 System (Note I may hold of on this depending on how my plants do)
- Driftwood, maybe some rocks etc...

Plants:
- I have a decent aquarium store by me and was planning on getting a few plants there. Any recomendations?

The Plan:
I believe my plan is fairly simple. But I want to run it by everyone...
Im going to layer my sand, laterite and gravel to form my substrate. Setup up my bogwood etc... Fill tank half way. Set up my plants, top it off and let the environment settle for a while, monitoring, prior to introducing fish.

What do you think? Am I too eager??? I dont know how much longer i can stare at this empty tank.
