Hello, I bought 3 Glofish Zebra Danios from Walmart last week planning on getting more because I just found out they are a schooling fish. Every since I purchased them I have been thinking about breeding and making this a hobby. I joined this forum because I am new to this whole caring for a fish thing so I wanted to surround my self with people who know what they are talking about.

Welcome to the hobby!

We do need to know how big your tank is. If you do want to breed zebra danios, they are a good choice. It is recommended that you have a separate breeding tank and a fry tank because the parents do eat the eggs and the babies. If you don't want to get another tank for breeding, you can get a fry keeper. The only hard thing about one of those is that it takes up room in your tank and you have to net the eggs since they are breeding in Your main. Keep in mind that most fish start breeding in the morning. If you want an easier fish to breed, I would suggest guppies or platies. They are livebearers which mean that they have live young which is easier for you because the are born free swimming. Whichever one you choose, feed them baby brine shrimp, crushed flake food, or first bite. Also make sure you put a sponge around your filter to prevent fry from getting sucked up.
