New, Used Tank,, ...

I am possably getting a new 50 gallon and stand today, it comes with heater, gravel, filter, light... anything i should know, think of, little hints about buying used tanks?

Check the seals by filling the tank up with just water and leaving it for a couple of hours.

And clean the hell out of it. I used bleach on mine. But mine had hard water stains and fungus on it. It wasn't used for months.

If the tank has hard water marks vinegar works well to help take that off. You can also use diluted bleach (make sure it's pure bleach...i.e. no perfumes, dyes, etc) to help clean / sanitize the tank. Just make sure that if you use bleach rinse until you can't smell the chlorine anymore...and then rinse some more.
