It's good to know that they listen. Most companies now days don't. They just want "Yes" people. I ended up unemployed 4 years ago for that reason. I worked for a company that appreciated input and feedback which I have always been more that happy to give. Unfortunately, we were bought by a company that just wanted to hear "yes" and i wasn't quick enough to figure that out. Anyway, I applaud you for what you are doing.

for cycleing y dont you just tank water from an alredy established tank and mix it half and half with new water? its definately an interesting idea, ill have to check it out ;)

See if you can get that change for all walmarts :) Mine sucks in the fish dept. I would love to see bio spira come thru to mine!

I hope it goes well!!!

Well, what if you don't have a tank that has enough water to do 50-50. Or what if it's your first tank?

Just a thought...

And yes diseases could occur!

btw tank water has very little bacteria in it. It'd probably be better if they had live plants or gravel that they gave out to people with new tanks. This would clone there tanks much more effectively than water.

But the 50 50 deal would cut back on stress, if the tank was completely healthy!

I think they should have a spare tank set up with about 5 ppm ammonia, and all the NEW pumps they are going to sell, hook them to it, and ONLY sell it when it has been there a month or so. Then you have an instant cycle!!! Wow, I wish I could run that by someone...

That would work great now since they have aerobics. When you replace the filter cartridge, you don't nuke ur bene bacteria.

ok so it wasn't the best choice but at least they are listening when there is concern on cycleing..
this stuff is only 5.95 in our store..
as for the other bio spira i have tried it and i like it alot..
but it is $11.95 plus it has to be refrigerated..
i leave for my meeting i told you all about in like 4 days wish me luck guys i am taken all the emails with me..
5.95 for something that doesn't do anything vs. 11.95 for something that works and does what it claims....no brainer.

Water from an established tank does nothing for cycling. All the bacteria are attached to the filter, decorations, tank walls and in the substrate. There is only a miniscule amount of bacteria present in the water column.

unless you swish an old filter in it first then there would probably be a lot of bacteria in the water. :D

It would probably put a lot of trash in the water but not much else unless you did some pretty furious shaking. Most of the bacteria is present inside the filter on the media so shaking it off isn't real likely to get you much bacteria. I'm not certain whether what does come loose would reattach to anything in the tank or not.

More than a few people have seeded a new tank sucessfully by cleaning their filters into the new tank.
