Hello hobbyists. Hope your days have been going ok. They said I could do an introduction post so here I am. I am 25 yrs old. I got.my first tank when I was about 10. My brothers friend had a 10 gallon with a blue gourami and a gold gourami in it. When I was over at his house I became I very intrigued at this tank and was mesmerized at the fish swimming and behavior. I showed so much interest in it that my brother's friend asked me if I wanted the tank. So I said yes. Thats when I first started to take a liking to tanks with fish in them and mostly plastic plants and decorations.
I later convinced my mom to buy me a 29 gallon tank. I put the gouramis in there. And started to try out various fish in the tank. I went through the process of.messing things up for a while fish dying, me wondering what went wrong the usual. At some point I learned the usual things when one goes on a search through the internet about how to keep his fish alive. Nitrogen cycle, dechlorinating water. The usual. I have killed quite a few fish including common plecos, a chocolate plece, Raphael catfish, those ghost catfish clear see through ones I forget their names. Frogs, live bearers, pretty much everything I started off with died pretty early. After some research I started to have more success with platys plecos and guppy's. Then I got into the world of plants and it was pretty much a wrap from there on. Fish with the beauty of a planted tanks was always really cool to me and drew me into it more. Then I saw the guppies and platies breeding despite them eating their own young. There would always be a few survivors that lived under the plastic log and survived off scraps that fell somewhere near the small crevice they lived in. I loved seeing these survivors grow old and make it to a large enough size that they wouldn't be eaten anymore. I pretty much learned and experienced a good amount just from that 29 gallon that I would watch quite often. My older brothers friend asked my brother if I was ok, he had never seen anyone stare so intently at a fish tank for so long. He thought I was a weird kid. Idk. I jabe always been interested in nature and would binge watch nature documentaries and still watch them often. Now I just have 1 "higher" tech planted 20 gallon tank because I got tired of maintenence and im mad lazy. Although I have thought of setting up more of an automated water change system and have a slightly automated system on my 20 gallon so I only have to spend a few minutes or 30 if I need to remove plants and algae and clean the filter. So I keep a few plecos in there some L numbers and a pearl gourami, 8 or 9 pygme corys, and a few cardinal tetras. They are pretty healthy and hopefully like their glass home.
