Hey ladies and gents,

Just thought I'd say hi and chuck up a few pics of my betta named Fong + setup! I've had it for ~6 months now, it's not much but it's really great to watch.

I've also got a female betta (named Twee - only a baby though, she's tiny) as well but she's just in my tank that I had Fong in. How would she go if I were to put her and Fong together? Or is that a big no no?

Also, any advice would be great, thanks.

Cheers.

no i woudnt put em together he woudnt kill her but she hide all the time

Nice set up youve got there, I personally like natural tanks, but yours looks nice and I can appreciate a nice clean set-up.

Yeah, putting them together is a no-no.

The male could kill her, it just depends on his temperament. But in any small tank you can be sure that the betta would never leave the female alone and exhast her through constant harassment.
They could even breed, which would basically result in the male harassing and likely eventually killing everything else in the tank :good:.

cute lil guy, but same one as every one else said adding a female is a no no, but you could keep a group of females together depending on tank size though.

:hi: to the wonderful world of bettas

:hi: aboard.
As everyone else has said, a female and male should never be kept together, only for breeding and even then it's for a short period.
Beautiful boy you have there, very handsome!

I think it depends on how they like each other. Before I knew how to breed I put my male and female together and they lived together until they died of old age.

Thanks for the comments guy and girls :) My heater fizzled out (Dunno why :S) So I went and bought a new one with a temp control on it etc, so hopefully I can keep a good temperature now!

I would love a more natural tank, but... I think the one I have is a little too small for maintaining a "living garden" in it so for now, plastic it stays :p I have an 80 litre tank that I'd love to set up but it's too much work at the moment, once I've mastered the 20 litre tank I might upgrade lol.
