I have had tropical fish for about 3 months now, the whole family enjoys them. I am going to upgrade form a 10g tank to a 60g tank....First Q: I got the 60g tank and filters, pumps, etc... from my wifes uncle Xmas day.. it has been setting for a while and has some mineral deposits on the glass, what is the best way to remove the stains....Next Q: I would like to make seperate sections of substrate in the tank, progressing from sand on one end to river rock on the opposite end...what is the best way to make the transition from one to another....there would be 3 different substrate, sand, pea gravel, river rock....thanks for any help... BTW,,,,,, we have a red betta, 2black skirt tetra's,2fidler crabs, and the 3 cichlid's and a pleco...Not in the same tanks, though

To clean the tank use water and a sponge with an abrasive side to it. I don't know how to do the substrate thing.

Hi,

If the stains are a bit stubborn, try using an old credit card - doesn't scratch the glass and works a treat.

Not a clue either with the substrate - have seen some tank pics just like this (think on this site) - maybe ask in the members aquarium picture section.

Would love to see a pic of your fish, especially the crabs :)

Well you can glue either glass or plastic to the tank bottom using aquarium silicone and go from there.

Thanks for the help with my questions.....Got a female Betta today, maybe we are going to try to get them to spawn? Any suggestions on the Betta's.....

with the substrate thing i think it will be quite trick but you coud to little sections for each make a littl wall and hopefully it wont be to visable, but it sound a great idea and i want too see it when done
