Hello, I am new to the forum, though I have been reading them for awhile and I enjoy hearing what others have to say. I am actually on my second tank set up now. The first I began with a 55 gal with (all young) 2 tiger oscars and 2 albino tiger oscars, 1 pleco and just to follow suit 1 albino pleco. "Poindexter" was my favorite, probably because he would eat from my hand and let me pet him. More on him later. After the oscars grew to about 8 inches, I knew it was time to move from the ghetto into a nicer neighborhood, especially since I believe they were thinking of raising a family. So we invested in a 125 gal. Oh, I forgot to mention that we also started out in Minnesota and before buying a bigger house for them, we had to move to Georgia. Not a fun experience, but surprisingly enough we made it through alright. Anyhow, I had to pick the strongest 2 (who happened to be showing signs of spawning) and focus on them letting the other two go another direction in their lives. They never did spawn while I was around and due to family emergency I had leave them too. Over all I believe I was fairly successful with my first tank, especially with having no knowledge or experience. Now 2 years later I am on my way to starting over again. I now have a 75 gal to start off with and of course I have a thing for oscars so I have once again found a couple babies (still only about 1 to 1 1/2 inches) to work with. Mostly I am hopping to become a grandfather. So I had one red oscar and an albino tiger, with one 2" pleco. In the beginning the Albino was very active and has swam up to me many times, while the red was very slow, skittish and well boring. A couple days ago I picked up another tiger oscar. Since then things have drastically changed, immediately. The red is extremely energetic and seems to love the tiger even to the point of testing him(I know it's still earlier to be pairing off but I am still hopeful). The albino is acting exactly the opposite, staying near the surface and sitting in the back corner just staring at the background. I have also noticed that the albino is somewhat transparent in the stomach and this is following a dropsy scare last night when he was somewhat bloated shortly after feeding a cichlid pellet I have no experience with. However, the swelling has seemed to go down since last night. I am not sure what is going on with the behavior changes but if somebody has a suggestion then I would love to hear it so I can research it more. If you have any questions for me then I would be happy to answer them. Thanks for your time and concern.

:hi: to the forums SomaticDelusions, enjoy youself!

im a begginer with oscars but they seem to be alot happier with the lights off and somehow it seems to help cheer them up. P.s... Is the newer oscar albino?

Hello everyone again. Silva - no the newest one is not an albino, he is a tiger. In the last few days things have gone about the same as I stated before. I have fully tested the water to make sure all the numbers added up properly. The ammonia was getting close to the stressful stage but I have been doing water changes and everything seems to be under control. After watching them all for the last few days, it seems that the newest member seems to kind of bully the albino into the corner. I am surprised by this since he has not done that to the red oscar or the pleco at all, but mostly because it had started immediately after being introduced to the tank. Any info, is still greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.
