Hello to all,

Im wondering if anyone can help ?

I have recently noticed an orange like residue on my ornamental features in my tank, it wipes off very easily with my fingertips, is it an algae of some kind.
Im worried incase its somesort of chemical problem. My Nitrite and Nitrate are fine and my PH level is fine as is the Ammonia.
What else could it be. ?

Any ideas and help would be much appreiciated.

Thank You

David

Is it maybe more brown than orange? Sounds like diatoms, also known as brown algae. It's very common in new tanks. You can just rinse off your ornaments and it should clear up on it's own in time. (Plecos love it if you have room for one)

Yeah I had that when I first set up and it was browny colour. It's gone now and is green algae. Apparantly normal in new tanks
