New to the fish community

Hello ive been at this a couple of months now loving it and didnt know how addicting that fish keeping can be, did have some questions about certain behaviors that I cant seem to find anything on though.

I didnt know much about all the science behind it now I research and watch videos and rematch videos and read extensively to assure the optimal health of my fish buddies. But I would like to point out an odd behavior. So I started off with a betta in a 2 gallon tank then bought 15gal tank and bought white skirt tetras and some Platys, then i loved these yellow lab and red zebra cichlids and you guessed it I bought a 50gal tank for those.
Well a platy I had began getting aggressive with everyone, chases his platty buds around was nipping at my snails so the cichlids being still very small and having such a large tank and only being 6 of them I decided to throw the jerk in with them. Well he fell in love with one of the red zebras they both hang out he follows it everywhere when it stays put hes right there just watching it, the red zebra will swim circles around they platy play with him if she gets a sudden jolt of energy and out swims him it returns for it and makes sure its close by, will thier friend ship be an issue as the cichlid grows bigger

Welcome! I’m not sure about the cichlids, others will have to respond. I will say though that my platy follows a guppy around in my tank. His Dad is in the tank too so he will hang out with him but plays more with the guppy.
