My first post of TFF and I just want to introduce myself

I've been a fish keeper since April starting off with a Biorb 30l, wasn't long before MFS set in and I now have a AquaMode 600.

The Biorb is fully stocked with two black widow tetras - Nick and Margaret, Two sunset platys - Jack and Vera, two silver tip tetra's - Ant and Dec and a betta called Sir Alan who at the moment isn't very well (thats another story and another post I think)

In the AquaMode there's only four fish at the moment - Two white balloon mollys, Kim and Aggie (always cleaning), a silver tip tetra who goes by the name of Mad Eye Moody, he lost his eye when he was in the Biorb so I moved him into the Aqua One to stop him getting picked on, and a plec called Poirot.

I'm still trying to decide my stock for the Aqua, I had two dwarf gourami's but they sadly died. I think I prefer fish that don't hide in corners and are playful, I don't really want anything high maintenance at this stage of my fish keeping career

So my first question to the forum is what are your favourite's and suggestions for my tanks next occupants

Hi and :hi: to TFF

You have Black Widow and Silver Tip Tetras in with your Betta that's unwell. Both are renowned fin nippers. If you Betta's un-wellness involves anything to do with his fins, you have your problem there

How long has the AquaMode been running? Do you have a water test kit? If so, what are the test results, and which kit is it? Numerical water test results for Ammonia, Nitrite and Nitrate will tell us if the tank is cycled, and hence if it's safe to add any more fish yet ;)

All the best

I have all the kit and the tank has been cycled. Its all been a learning curve for me but what I have found out on the inernet I think I'm done what I should.

The betta has been getting on fine with the other fish in the Biorb, he only became ill on Sunday. I think its a fungal infection so I am treating him with Pimafix

OK, just keep an eye out for nipping there in case. You may get away with it, but that stocking isn't recommended  I find Primafix only helps with stuff that is already healing, so if you don't see improvement, you may want to consider something a bit stronger, like Waterlife's Myxazin, or Interpet's Anti Fingus and Finrot. The former is my preference for fungus though, and what I'd use for it at work

All the best
