I recently upgraded my lighting system to the Coralife dualstrip with lunar glow and started planting out the tank. I started with a ludwigia and a c. lucens and they have both trippled in size. Recently, I've added cuttings from another established aquarium. Everything appears to be doing well but algae is growing rapidly. I have two ameca splendens to take care of hair algae, but that doesn't appear to be the problem, it's more of a stuck, spotty algae. I went out and got a blue busynose today that the fish store said would take care of it. But I'm getting the sense that he prefers eating the algae on the wood and substrate, not so much on the glass.

Should I replace the bluelight with another daylight tube or will this be too much light? Also, it's a fairly well stocked community tank, but should I go ahead and add a CO2 system? I just assumed the fish would provide enough CO2 but I'm starting to think this is false.

Thanks for your help.

Is it a kind of greenish/brownish algae, that you find on the glass? If it is like that, I remove it manually once a week when I do my water change. You can either use these magnetic brushes or whatever these are called (one on the inside, and one on the outside that you move up and down), or simply take a fibre cloth used for cleaning. I mostly only to the front glass and can't be bothered with the rest.

My snails do eat this type of algae, but it is not sufficient
