I have a fully cycled tank with 2 Tetras, 2 zebra danios and one cory.

Looking to add 4 female bettas and someone in the forum recommended that I add Java Moss.

Read the pinned articles, some basic questions:

1.Do I need to tie it down as shown in the pinned article or I just let it float?

2.What kind of nutrients do I need to give it?

3.How much lighting do I need? Current light fixture , florescent: 120 volt, 19 Watts and 60hz. No idea what that means

4. Attached is a picture of the moss- is it dead? looks brown:

5.Some basic maintence tips also appreciated.

6. What other plants would be recommended for my bettas?

Thanks

Jacob

19W over a 10g should mean you don't need CO2 although of course it would still be beneficial.

I would up the number of Tetras to 6 or 8 rather than put Bettas in.

Tetras like to school (safety in numbers) and look amazing when they do so (and they may nip the Bettas at every chance too)

The moss is a little brown and may well become an algae invitation but it will grow back and looks like it is starting to at the bottom (I notice some green)

If you get Seachem Flourish Excel and using a syringe daily squirt the reccomended dose directly onto the moss (whilst in situ) then it should stay algae free and also help speed up the recovery.

Take a look on barreport.com for Non CO2 tanks where you will find info on tanks with low light and non CO2 plus suggested dosing routines for such tanks.
