I now have a jeweltank and I dont have a clue wat to put in the filter, it is the jewel rokord 70. It has to plastic things, one bigger than the other. At the mo there is one blue thing a green n a black n a white in the big one and a blue one in the smaller one. What should I put in it so i can start cycling my tank. Also what one goes in first, the little at the bottom or the top.
Another question is I aint too sure where the plug thing with the wire goes, does it attach to the black hose n through the filter? If anyone knows any diagrams that would be great coz the guy that sold it to me was useless n never gave me instructions or tell mewhere things go.
Cheers
Paul

Go the the lfs and get the instructions
The course blue goes at the bottom of the basket, then the fine blue sponge goes on top.
Don't need the black carbon in only good for removing med.
Nitrate sponge the green one don't add that one either just save it.
The white media sponge goes on top.

Not sure on the power head does it have a long tube that slots into the power head.

cool so do you know how many of each I should put in? I will go to the lfs n see what they say. The power head looks like it insert into a black semi-circle piece then the long piece will connect to that. That right?

Click on instruction manual near the bottom.

Right there will be a round hole in the black box by the sounds of it that the filter slots into.

Add both the blue sponges.
Only need black carbon for removing med.
The green sponge just will slow the cycle down, not even proven they work the nitrate sponges, and have to replace them every six weeks, just a juwel product to get more money out of you.
When tanks cycled could always add another fine blue filter sponge in its place.

Right so ive checked out that website n had a look at what they had in. I put the two blue ones at the bottom, the green one above it on its own in the platic thing and then put a white one on top of the plastic crate thing, that sound right?
Here you may think im daft but on the pics for the filter there are two wires running into it however the only wire I can think of that goes in is the power head thing.
Sorry
Paul

Not sure.
Go the the hardware d.i.y. section and ask there about the powerhead.
Good luck.

found the solution to the set up here:http://www.juwel-aquarium.de/data/Pdf/gbw/en/Filter_System.pdf You need to copy n paste this link of you need it.
However do you put the heater inside the filter system?is that what the other wire is comin out of the diagram?

Yes the heater goes in the black box with the powerhead, there should be some plastic hole slots for the heater to slot in.

Cool mate cheers, i can see the slots, there seems to be a piece of plastic in one of them, feels like the shape of the bottom of the filter but i cant get it out, should i force it out? Is it supposed to be attached to the bottom of the heater?you know?
cheers

No leave it probably where the heater slots into.
Can't believe the lfs didn't give you instruction they should be inside the tank box.
Only have a rekord 60 but it will be different to the 70.

sorry mate thought i had said before but i hadnt. I bought this second hand from a guy the other day. It seems that the guy managed to burn the plastic slightly, does that mean he had the heater on too hot?

Thats strange or he had the heater on with no water in the tank, or the heater overheated in the tank.
Possible to get a pic up of the box inside and parts.

You could always remove the box out of the tank, I did and just added an internal filter and heater.
The tanks are well made but the equipment not up to much, and I also change the lighting to a better make.

Yeah he probably did, ill give it a go anyway, dont ahve my camera on me at the mo to cant take a pic. Ill stick with it n see what happens. Yeah was thinkin about what to do with my lights, was thinking bout doin a diy job n adding another unit. What you reckon, what have you done with yours? Have you just replaced the buld with a better one or what?

I just read the instructions to the heater n it says not to let it touch glass or anything else. I think what has happened is he has bought a new heater for it and it aint therefore able to be inside the filter, wat you think?

Have just put it all together n after all that the heater is too tall to fit the lid on, what a bummer. I'll try taking my heater out of my other tank to see if it will fit in and i can just swap them over.
Cheers for the help.
