I was given a 40 gallon tank but it had lizards in it. I am wondering how to clean it up & possibly use as fish/shrimp tank or just buy new tank? What do i use to clean it with? any & all information welcome..
I'm getting back into the hobby been a long time bear with me...thank you

I would say as long as its water tight and you scrub it up nice it should be OK...I tend to use vinegar for cleaning out old tanks

Or bleach in a 15% mix. Just let it stand for an hour or so then wash in tap water and leave it to dry properly.
Using bleach will kill any potential for algae remaining, if any had previously been present at first.

Vinegar kills algae too, and it's safer 🤷‍♀️ but considering the tank only had lizards in it I'm doubting there's algae present at the moment 😅

I wouldnt use bleach unless you know exactly what you're doing and how much you are using... Vinegar is the safest bet... Don't use bleach, you may accidentally leave A residue and then the fish will die...
