Hello all,

hope you are well!

new to forum and new to fish keeping!

Would be extremely grateful for any advice given!

bought 4 female guppies and 2 male guppies.

they all kind of look pregnant to me but unsure when to start keeping a eye out for the fry or separate into a breeding box.

have attached some pics below was hoping could get some of guidance of how far along these guppies look please.

My guppies look very similar! I would love to know how close they are to giving birth! I will watch this thread closely.

watch your guppies very closely keep the adults well fed and sooner or later you will see babies

Don't bother traumatizing the fish with breeder boxes. You will ultimately have so many babies anyway that you will wonder why you got live bearers. I'd start thinking about where you are going to put them all and/or who will take them. Breeder boxes are completely unnecessary for live bearers.

Wow your going to be busy ! :):fish::fish:All depends what you want to do and if you have a home for the hundreds of fish you are going to have . The 4 mammies will be giving birth again in about 21 -28 days and so on for 6 months I believe. With possible 50 fry each . I have 1 female adult guppy with her 4th batch soon due and my tank has about 100 fry in it . 20 of my first batch went to my lfs .and he is happy to take more of me . I raised my first 2 batches in a breeder box and every single one lived ,plus its easier to feed them 2-3 times a day without messing up the rest of the tank .its nice seeing them grow . But now I've had my fun now with that so I'm just leaving the next batches in main tank. So up to you . If you have a lfs that might take /buy them . Keep us posted :)

Ask your lfs first though. Many near me won't take them. One that does i suspect uses them as feeders for the larger fish. No one will buy them around here although I've read on this forum that some people have sold some (for almost nothing, but at least its something) to their lfs. So you may luck out, but considering how prolific live bearers are, I wouldn't count on it. Best of luck to you and your critters!
