I just got 4 German Blue Rams today.  I'm planning on letting them mature a bit and letting 2 (if there is a male and female in there) pair up.  The other 2 I'll return to the LFS (I said I might do that and the lady said that would be fine).  I am going to have them on frozen bloodworms and brine shrimp and some tropical flakes.

I really am bad at sexing these guys.  Here's some pics.  I know they are young, but could you try and tell me who is what?

1# I think this pretty one is a male:

2# This tiger striped one is different looking... but still a GBR I assume?:

3# This one (on right) looks like 4# but has a golden belly:

Here's another pic of it for good measure.  (At right again.) :

Hard to tell from your pix and in young ones. I think Number 1 is a guy and number 3 is a girl, you will tell easier once they mature a little more

Yes, I agree. You need to let them settle in and colour up a bit; also, for the future, clear side on pics are best, as some of the tricks to sexing rams involve looking at the dorsal and anal fins.

#2 is a GBR, but showing stress colouration (that's the dark bars; very common trait in cichlids).
