well im not sure if ive posted on this forum before
but ive been reading through some posts and it seems like a really good place to come for advice and a good chat

at the moment ive got a 48"x12x18 high tank that homes my 3 angels 2 blue gouramis and a dwarf gourami

but have just aqquired a bigger tank due to my friend passing away
was just wondering what would be best to move the tank from its current location and would the tank be ok to set-up with fish in straight away or will it have to be cycled again at the moment the tank homes alot of guppies 2 neons and some sucking loaches unsure of breed
thaks for replies

Hi fishinadish :)

Welcome to the forum! :hi: I'm sorry to hear that you lost your friend but glad to learn you will be getting his tank.

When you are ready to move the tank, take care to preserve the filter media it has now. Bag it up separately in water from the tank and get the filter set up again as quickly as you can. Bag up all the fish and empty the water. Unless it is a very large tank you can leave the substrate in while you move it.

When you arrive home wash or replace the gravel or sand. And fill it with 1/4 to 1/3 old water from your present tank. Fill it the rest of the way with dechlorinated new water at the appropriate temperature. Immediately put the filter media back in the filter and get it running. If you use a heater, take the time to make sure it is set and shutting off at the right time. You can float the bags of fish in your own tank while this is going on.

Once you have it running and the fish are settled, why not take a picture of the loaches and post it. Perhaps one of our members can help you identify them.:D
